WOW!!! This last few weeks has been a whirlwind. I have learned so much from this class. Not necessarily all from a technology standpoint, but instead a lot about myself. Did I used to think I was relatively tech savvy? YES!!! Am I tech savvy? NOT AT ALL!! Looking at all of programs, extensions etc, available to students has been quite overwhelming, yet it also excites me. Given that I am not currently a classroom teacher, I'm trying to think of ways that I can incorporate what I've learned in this course into my own life.
What else have I learned?? Apparently, I'm an overachiever and bit off more than I could chew. Thinking I could take 3 courses in 3 weeks while also working full-time was pretty insane... It also showed me that I am much stronger and more tenacious than I ever realized. I've been a very determined individual this last couple of weeks. I am proud of the fact that I have been able to persevere and get through it all. My main regret is that I wasn't able to put in the time and effort to truly get out of this class what I wanted to. My goal for the upcoming weeks is to take the time to truly look at all aspects of this course and all of the links to really familiarize myself with what is available for students.
Knowing that I work with students who struggle in reading and math (sometimes in both), I want to show the parents all of the tool of the technology that are available to them. I would love to be able to customize the list based on each of the children I work with. I want to provide my students and parents with tool belts specific to their needs.
When I return to the classroom setting, I want to be mindful of UDL and assistive technology. I want to be able to create assignments that work for all students and specifically keeping the students on the "edge" . Giving the students the freedom to be able to represent their learning in a way that truly represents themselves will be valuable.
